SKETCH 5

Doctor, doctor, I´ve got a virus…
— I see…what kind of virus is that?… where does it hurt?
Ooh, all over…wherever I go, whatever I try and do, it won´t let me.
— Ah, you mean you haven´t got any energy?
No, no, I´ve got plenty of energy…batteries recharged and all that…but nothing seems to work…everything´s so slow…
— Well you need a pick-me-up of some sort…maybe a change of program…
What kind of program do you have in mind, doctor?
— Well, I don´t know, some sort of change of diet, perhaps…(D.I.E.T.?)yes, what symptoms are you showing?
Nothing works properly, you know, loss of memory…
— Sounds like you´re lacking in iron…
I.R.O.N.? What does that stand for? Internet Rooter Or Networking?…
— Sorry? I don´t follow…hang on a sec., how long do you spend at your computer?
Ages – can´t get off the damn thing these days!
— Ah ha! That´s the problem… too much sitting around…you need to get out and about a bit more.
Yeah, but how do I get rid of the virus?
— An anti virus…breathe in a bit of fresh air and you´ll feel a lot better…
An ANTI VIRUS!…that´s why I´m here! Give me a decent anti virus, please!
— Well, the first thing you must do is get rid of the computer…cut out your broadband…back to basics…who needs technology, anyway?…you´re just living in a virtual world…get out there, man, and live!
Why bother?…out there is just as bad…traffic, pollution, strikes, redundancies…delinquency…
— Yes, I understand…I´m going to put you on an anti virus course…but you´ll have to switch off for a few days. It´ll do you good.
If you say so, doctor…but only a few days…
— Yeah,yeah,yeah – don´t fret…you can trust me – I´m a doctor, you know…I didn´t study for 7 years for nothing…(Only 7, was it?)…to begin with…(cough)…your PROGRAM? Here!…
Ta…

Doctor doctor…I´ve got a problem…I´m worried about the future…(Who isn´t?)…I´ve heard that the world may end in 2012.
—- Well, you don´t want to worry too much about what you hear or read these days…anyway, people have been predicting the end of the world for 1000s of years…
Yes, but the Mayan calendar just suddenly stops on December the twelfth of that year.
—- So I´ve heard…mmm…perhaps a new era will begin, who knows?..The end of something often marks the start of something else.
But why would a calendar just end?
—- Well, all this was written or carved on stone, wasn´t it? They may have used up so much stone building all those pyramids that they just ran out of the stuff…(You think so?)… Sure, wasn´t there a major drought or something, water crisis of some sort?…maybe they simply ran out of water.
I never thought of that…so you mean…they didn´t complete their calendar because they couldn´t?
—- Perhaps…or they might just have disagreed, argued, got bored…
But I´ve also heard that all the planets and the sun will align with the centre of our galaxy on that exact date…and there could be all sorts of natural disasters…
—- You mean like earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanic eruptions, gale force winds, tectonic plate movements…possible magnetic pole reversal…
Oh my god…it sounds much worse than I thought.
—- Well, you can probably escape from it all…
How? Tell me!
—- Erm…there are remote places where you´ll most likely be relatively safe…
Like where?
—- I´ve got a friend who rents out places in Tibet, miles from anywhere…I believe there´s quite a community already living there.
What, can you put me in touch?
—- I should imagine so…I´ll make a couple of calls…and book you in for… November 2012, say?
Better make that 2011…just in case.
—- Well, the Mayans were pretty accurate, you know…
Yes, I suppose you´re right… Thanks once again, doctor…

TRANSCRIPCIÓN DEL SKETCH
Doctor doctor…I´ve got a problem…this time it´s a family problem.
— Yes, well, that´s because you´re Spanish.
Spanish? You mean only the Spanish have families, suddenly?
— No, but only the Spanish do everything with the family…
What do you mean?
— Well, you go out with the family, stay at home with the family, go shopping with the family, celebrations? The family… No celebration? The family…need I go on?
No, stop, please…I get your point, you´re right…but is that bad?
— Well, you are the one who said you had a problem…go figure!
So, what do I do?
— Leave!
Leave the family? Where? How?
— Just go away…don´t phone for a week…say you´re on holiday…GO on holiday…I dunno…get a pet or something…
WWWait a minute…A holiday without the family? Impossible!
— Aha, you see?
What?
— You can´t even imagine a holiday without the family…you´re dependent on them. You´re a prisoner, a slave to the clan…
RRRINGRRRING…Excuse me…Mama, ¿que pasa? Estoy con el inglés…Vale, ahora voy…
—What´s up? The family, I presume…
Yeah, my sister´s boyfriend´s brother-in-law´s niece is getting married.
— Your brother´s girlfriend´s sister-in-law´s nephew?
No, my sister´s boyfriend´s brother-in-law´s niece.
— You mean your girlfriend´s sister-in-law´s boyfriend´s niece…
Look, just forget it, OK? I haven´t got a problem in fact…you´re right… I just need something for a headache (headaitch)
— Headache
Yes, headache (headaitch)
— No, no…HEADACHE
¡Que me dejes!
— Sorry?
Leave me alone, I´m fine…
— You need a break.
I´ll say!
— Pills?
Guess so… something natural, you know…
— Yes, I know… Here, prescription… Pablo´s chemist, round the corner?
Cheers!
— You´re welcome!

Doctor, doctor, I´ve got a problem…I think I´m in love…
— I see, well that´s not unusual…perfectly natural…happens to everyone, you know…
Yes, but I can´t stop thinking about her…I just can´t seem to concentrate.
— So who is she, then? – what´s her name?
Svetlana
— Describe her…is she blonde, pretty, what colour are her eyes, you know, that sort of thing…
Oh, yes, she´s absolutely stunning…tall, blonde, blue eyes…I think she´s Russian.
— Have you got a photo? (Yeah, here you are)…Let me see…ah, yes, very nice, very attractive…long, long legs I see… Can you give me any more information…where she lives, what she does…
Why do you want to know all that?
— Oh, well, just to get a better picture…you see, maybe she´s not for you…I get the impression that perhaps you´re wasting your time….
Man, just take a good look at her again! I bet you wouldn´t think twice about wasting your time with such a beauty…
— No, I guess you´re right…well, you decide…the ball´s in your court…but I say: Time wasted is not Time well spent.
¿Que? What did you say?
— What I mean is…Time flies, doesn´t it?
Does it?
— I´ll say…anyway…er so, where were we?…ah yes, Svetlana…does she give Russian classes?… You see, I was thinking of visiting Moscow quite soon.
How come?
— Oh, there´s some, you know, international medical conference or other on radiation from mobile phones…quite a serious matter it would seem…er…classes?
Erm …I tell you what, I can give you her card, I suppose…here´s one.
— Right then, now take these pills…they´re called er Sleep´n´Forget something or other…don´t worry, it´s a herbal remedy…you know, Natural…no side effects and you´ll be fine in no time…By the way, did you know there are 4 women for every man on the planet? (Really?) Yes, so look on the bright side, eh?
Well, thanks very much for your help then Doctor, see you…..

TRANSCRIPCION DEL SKETCH
Doctor, doctor – I´ve got a problem…Actually, it´s a financial problem…
Ah, I see…well, nothing to worry too much about, everybody seems to be having
money problems these days…you know, there is a crisis…
Crisis, what crisis?
Mmmmm…
You see, I can´t sleep at night thinking about where to keep my money…what with the Crisis and all that…
So, where do you keep it then?…tell me…
Er ..in a local bank, why do you ask?
- Ah,well, all banks are the same really – Caja Sur, caja this, caja that…they´re just boxes, aren´t they? (Really?)…no money is safe in a bank these days, whatever they tell you…(You mean…)no, you´re better off keeping it close to hand – like er under your bed or, better still, in your mattress…
Under the bed? In my mattress? Doctor, are you sure?
Oh yes, have you got a single or a double bed?
Erm…double, why?
In a double you can fit at least a couple of million, I should say…
What, Euros?
Well, we´re not talking pesetas, are we,for godssake?
No, you´re right…obviously not…Well, I might just take your advice then………..(gets up to go) AAgh…
What seems to be the problem?
Oh it´s nothing…it´s just my ankle playing me up again…
Let´s have a quick look…oh dear, this looks quite serious…swollen…let me see…anti-inflammatories, painkillers, something n a t u r a l…marijuana perhaps…(Good idea)…I wonder if that´s legal… right…here you are, your prescription…
Can I get this at any old chemist´s?
Er, no, actually just next door you´ll find a good chemist..he´s always got everything…Ask for Pablo, and tell him Doctor Simon sent you—he´ll deal with it.
Thanks very much…see you then…aagh!…
By the way…I´m not letting you walk out like that…I´ll call a taxi, hang on…hello, Juan, are you downstairs? Yeah, got another PATIENT for you, mate…on their way…make sure you get the address, won´t you?……..
